About Lisa

The design studio is led by Lisa Wood. Lisa trained at one of the top contemporary garden and landscape design schools, Oxford College of Garden Design, graduating with distinction.

Prior to pursuing her garden design career Lisa worked as a visual merchandiser. Her experience in visual merchandising has honed her eye for design and attention to detail, which she now applies to creating beautiful and functional outdoor spaces.

Growing up with two generations of passionate gardeners Lisa often found herself “helping” in both the veg garden of her father and grandfather or in the flower beds with her mother. If she wasn’t found in the garden, she could usually be found playing and exploring the local fields, making dens, climbing trees and discovering the abundant wildlife. Whichever the environment, it’s fair to say, she could generally be found happy, covered in mud and exhausted from playing outside all day.

Experiencing and having the privilege of this early childhood ignited Lisa’s passion for the outdoors and later, her appreciation of outside spaces whether they be natural or created and the impact they have on our wellbeing and environment.

Our design philosophy

Every garden and client is unique, that is why we are led entirely by the client and site from the outset.

What does this mean?

  • Listening to and understanding the personality, vision and needs of you, the client and those who will be using the garden.

  • Drawing on the architecture of your home and the wider landscape beyond.

We interpret and take inspiration from your brief, lifestyle and aspirations to create a bespoke outdoor living space that reflects your personal tastes and functional needs whilst seamlessly blending your house into its surroundings, paying particular attention to the use of local materials.

Each undertaking of a garden design also provides the opportunity to have a positive impact on our environment by creating spaces that are sustainable, provide habitat and improve biodiversity.

Why employ a garden designer?

A well designed garden is an investment both for you and your property. An investment which can not only bring you years of enjoyment but one which can also significantly add to your property’s value. By having an overall coherent plan for your garden, a garden designer can also save you time and money. Using their extensive knowledge from construction detailing to planting and with thorough planning, addressing problem areas before the soil has been disturbed can avoid costly and timely mistakes.

Much like you would use the services of an architect to design an extension of your home or an interior designer to bring all elements of decoration and furnishings together, a garden designer will help you maximise the potential of your outside areas by unifying all the different elements of your vision, needs, site and budget to create a coherent and usable outdoor living space. One which is not only beautiful, functional and stylish but also ensures it sits in harmony with your property and surrounding landscape.

So whether your dream garden is a space where entertainment is priority for family and friends; one in which the children can play safely whilst you sit and relax or a space for wildlife to flourish; we can work with you to design a beautiful and bespoke garden that is tailored to your needs and budget.
